The story, the philosophies, and the why behind the work.

THE WHY

“My purpose is to better people’s lives. I am fulfilled when others are fulfilled.”

An insatiable hunger to serve others, to serve my community, to connect, to create, and to solve problems. Compelled to make a difference and ultimately, to make an impact.

As an entrepreneur, the line between your personal life and your professional career become ever-so-blurry. In my opinion, the concept of a work/life balance doesn't really exist if you have your priorities aligned and are pursuing your passion while keeping focus on the things and people that have brought you to your current precipice.

MY STORY

As a Greater Peoria native,

1980s–2011

ROOTS

I grew up as an only child - always longing to be part of something bigger and seeking to make an impact from an early age. As I grew older, I carried on the sense of pride for community and entrepreneurial spirit passed down from my parents who were business owners themselves. I witnessed firsthand the power of relationships as I idolized my mother’s lifelong career in the floral industry. My father’s propelling career from firefighter to fire chief served as an example of goal-crushing ambition and steadfast leadership.

Eventually, I would go off to college where I majored in Music Education, only to be nagged by the fire in my heart for creativity and entrepreneurship – leading me down what would become a new and unexpected path which would include leaving school early, starting a family and starting a business of my own.

2012–2013

ONEFIRE

Jake Hamann at ONEFIRE

In 2012 with one successful business under my belt (The Waterhouse) and various other resumé highlights, I had the confidence to start what would become my greatest professional accomplishment, ONEFIRE – an innovation agency of over 30 talented ideators who partnered with corporations like Caterpillar, Maui Jim, Rheem, UI Labs and countless others to provide strategy, production, and delivery of innovative experiences. My continued focus on culture, values and our team made ONEFIRE one of the region’s fastest growing companies. In 2015, my contributions to Greater Peoria were recognized as I was honored as one of the region’s 40 Under 40 emerging leaders.

2014–2015

STARTUP PEORIA

Startup Peoria

As ONEFIRE continued it’s rapid growth it became apparent that the startup and innovation ecosystem in Greater Peoria was lacking, so I co-founded Startup Peoria – an organization dedicated to providing local entrepreneurs with the tools and resources they need to ideate, collaborate and launch successful businesses. The impact this organization had in Greater Peoria was quickly noticed on a both a local and national level. Locally, I was invited to serve on the executive board of the Greater Peoria Economic Development Council and was appointed by the City of Peoria to serve as their representative on the board of the Downtown Development Corporation of Peoria. Nationally, my impact was also recognized as I was invited by Startup America to represent Illinois as a respected pioneer in community building and subsequently became a founding member of the Startup Champions Network.

A LIFE RESET

2015–2017

A LIFE RESET

In late 2015, I was unaware that I would become a widower in nine short months when my high school sweetheart would pass away from cancer after 14 years of marriage. Suddenly, I found myself a single father; trying to balance baseball practice with dance rehearsal while running ONEFIRE. So, in late 2016, I made the difficult decision to step away from ONEFIRE to focus on my children and pursue a life reset in the Dallas, Texas area.

THE CURRENT CHAPTER

2017–2020

PIA & REDISCOVERING ME

Before and after

Family and the desire for familiarity brought my children and I back to Greater Peoria in the Summer of 2017. After getting settled, reacclimated and back into the workforce, my love for community building was reignited and the Peoria Innovation Alliance was launched in May of 2019.

And while PIA brought fulfillment to my career, my health continued to struggle. So, after a life-long battle with obesity I made the difficult decision to pursue bariatric surgery in November of 2020; only revealing the deep rooted attachment and addiction I had to food and the emotions that went along with it.

After navigating the early stages of both the physical and mental challenges that came with this life-altering surgery, I was fortunate enough to take a 3-week personal retreat to the Southwest; documenting my journey of recovery, reflection, and self care along the way through a series of vlogs called “Rediscovering Me

2021–2025

NORTH TEXAS

In 2021 I moved to Frisco, Texas — this time by choice rather than reset. North Texas gave me a bigger ecosystem to build in, and I got to work the way I always have: connecting founders, showing up for the community, and starting the companies I wanted to see exist.

What followed became the current chapter — ENTEVATE, AUTIX, Momentify, KINECT, and PROVEN — alongside ecosystem work with NTX Collective, Right to Start, and Startup Champions Network.

THE PRESENT

Jake Hamann

Even though my journey has taken me to unexpected places with many twists and turns in the road, I now find myself focused on the present; enjoying where I am rather than where I’ve been or where I’m going.

WHAT I DO

I help companies and leaders design their transformation. For organizations, that means creative approaches to innovation and customer experience challenges. For men navigating change, that means redesigning their lives with intention through Rediscovering Me.

Transforming Organizations

Founder of ENTEVATE and Momentify. I help companies with innovation, customer experience, and digital transformation:

  • Innovation strategies built on creative risk-taking
  • Customer experience design that drives loyalty
  • Experiential marketing with real emotional connection
  • Digital transformation that balances tech and people
  • Ecosystem building that links corporations to startups

Ecosystem work with Right to Start, Startup Champions Network, Peoria Innovation Alliance, Distillery Labs, Kauffman, and the IEDC.

Transforming Leaders

Through Rediscovering Me, I work with men navigating healing, growth, and self-trust outside the boardroom. Sustainable transformation requires leaders doing their own inner work:

  • Building self-awareness
  • Processing growth honestly
  • Showing up authentically

As an award-winning entrepreneur and TEDx speaker, I share the full story, successes and struggles, because real transformation happens when we’re honest about both.

PHILOSOPHIES

Here are a few of the philosophies that I have uncovered and subscribed to over the years which help fuel my day-to-day life and purpose.

Good Vibes,
Good Life

VIA VEX KING

To achieve a sense of peace, we need balance: between work and play, action and patience, laughter and seriousness. Failing to achieve balance across every area of your life leaves you exhausted.

The Infinite Game

VIA SIMON SINEK

In infinite games — business, politics, life — the players come and go, the rules change, and there is no endpoint. There are no winners or losers; there is only ahead and behind.

Minimalism

VIA THE MINIMALISTS

A tool for finding freedom — from fear, worry, overwhelm, and the trappings of consumer culture. Not anti-possession; simply deciding more consciously and deliberately.

Start With Why

VIA SIMON SINEK

Discovering the WHY injects passion into our work. Not a formula for success, but a tool for the long-term, fulfilling kind.

4 Pillars of Meaning

VIA EMILY ESFAHANI SMITH

  • Belonging — relationships where you are valued for who you are.
  • Purpose — using your strengths to serve others.
  • Transcendence — moments where the self fades and you feel connected.
  • Storytelling — the narrative you build from your own life.

Startup Mentality

VIA FORBES

Fast, intense, purpose-driven: a group of experts empowered to bring an idea to life. Stagnant environments stifle innovation; teams making a difference daily take their pointers from startup culture.
